This is excellent. I am in a position to help with funding and I will. I have contacted Justice Connection and given them my name and email. I hope to hear from them soon.
I want to make a difference and this will allow me to. Thank you.
Great! Trump thought his shock and awe approach to destroying the federal government would sweep the field., but G*d be praised it seems to be backfiring.
THANK YOU for this. Inwas a federal employees for over 21 years. Many of my coworkers are upset enraged and in shock about what is happening and are not sure what to expect or to do next. I will share this post. Thank you again
If you have the financial ability I would agree, but I suspect most don't.
If you are is a position to act, act, but be careful not to judge others who may not be in that position. There are many things I would do today, being retired, that I would not do while trying to keep a roof overhead and dinner on the table. The worst is people who can act but don't. But you never know their reality.
My biggest concern is for those government workers who take the severance package with paid leave until September and find out Trump only has the ability to offer paid leave for 10 days. They will be without a job and stiffed.
Thank you for this post sharing things we can do! This is the most positive I've felt today (and for a few days, to be honest). I don't know anyone who works for the federal government (at least as far as I know) but I do feel a strong need to help those who do and I'm glad I can help somehow! I hope the employees are able to hang there until some semblance of sanity comes back to our country. No one deserves to lose their job, except for the Mango Madman and his ilk.
I'm really not getting this post. Firstly Trump as much as I dislike him has got a legit mandate to vote.
That also means a legit mandate (for better or worse) to have the guys he thinks will be the best people in a particular role for that role. I'm quite sure every government including democrats have done this in some form. Now maybe you can't fire a person but you definitely have the option to banish someone to some remote outpost in Nebraska or wherever (no offense to Nebraska, I'm non American and my exposure to Nebraska is from the film Fargo where it looked really remote!)
I guess the chaps who left hated Trump and didn't want anything to do in the crazy government which is their choice. But if you are a Government servant you need to act as per their legitimate instructions. Telling them to stay in their jobs and sabotage the government is simply not on.... What kind of a democratic setup is being suggested here? Are republican bureaucrats in a democratic government allowed to do likewise? This has been a serious, good blog but now I'm really wondering...
In the federal government we have two kinds of civil servants. The top layer are political appointees, and they often are changed when a new administration comes in. They have no guarantee of continued employment. However, JVL is encouraging them to prolong the process of being fired so that the Trump Administration will be slowed down just a little bit.
In contrast to this upper level, 95% of government employees are career civil servants. This means they are not policy makers and simply carry out the instructions of political appointees. They can only be fired for cause— in other words their bad behavior must be documented.
Trump is now breaking the law by firing these people without stating cause or following the legal procedure. Some are being fired because they worked on DEI projects, some are being fired because they attended DEI training, some are being fired because they worked on prosecuting Jan 6 rioters.
Doubtless, some of these folks fired in an illegal manner will sue and Trump's illegal behavior will be stopped. I hope it happens soon.
Radical, happy who feel their work is valued are more productive, less sick days, stay longer at their jobs. Yes, the boss is in charge. If boss has any brains, he will treat employees with kindness, honesty, and fairness (pay, benefits, vacation time, sick leave). You sound like aa authoritarian, seeing employees as less than, discarding basic workplace behavior. Fuck the employees. My way or the hwy. High turnover, lower production, unhappy people.

Push the higher up to resist surrender. Somehow.
